At one time in our lives, all believers accepted Jesus as their personal Savior and were saved. For each person this is usually different, but the process is usually similar. Most likely, either someone witnessed to you, you went to a church, or even a revival somewhere. These events were put into motion, you followed them through, became a Believer, and you think to yourself, what now. This is very common, you ask yourself, do I need to read the Bible? How do I pray? What do I do now? Don’t worry, these are questions all Believers go through.

Some Churches offer instruction within the church to guide and teach you, others assign a mentor to do the same, and your Pastor is always there to oversee the process. I applaud these churches, they guide you to a point of understanding where you can grow in your walk with the Lord. I believe this should be done in all churches, but unfortunately it is not.

The answers you are looking for are all found in the Bible, but you don’t want to just start reading with no direction. Begin your walk by praying to the Lord. In Mathew 6:9-15 Jesus told the people to pray in this manner. This section of scripture is known as the Lord’s Prayer, but understand this is the beginning of your prayer. Continue on and just spend time with the Lord in prayer.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not parish but have ever lasting life.” Jesus was also an example for us to follow. In your reading start with Mathew, read the story of His life, and begin to understand what Jesus was saying and teaching, this will be your guidance for your walk in the light with the Lord.

Study His Word, spend time with the Lord in prayer. Your Faith will begin to grow as you grow. Soon your guidance will come to you from the Lord. As you grow, make yourself ready to help others begin their walk, so they don’t have to stop and say, “What Now”.
